Let's Not Forget Thanksgiving

I walked into my favorite store a few weeks back (Home Depot) and was blown-away by all of the Christmas 'stuff' that is already there. Don't get me wrong, I am a firm believer in Christmas and everything that goes with the birth of Christ. However, we need to enjoy each holiday...not skip one because it is good for the bottom line. If I skipped the third service (Early Summer fertilizer and weed control) just so I could sell you a more expensive Grub Control service...would this benefit your lawn? No! If I skipped your fifth service (Early Fall fertilizer and weed control) just so I could sell you a more expensive Aeration service...would this benefit your lawn? No! I think you see my point. I will not sacrifice a beneficial service for your lawn just to 'get a bigger deal'.

I realize that it is all about timing, Black Friday, blah, blah, blah. Personally, I don't leave the house on Black Friday...never! As for the stores, they concentrate so much on Christmas that the meaning of Christmas has gotten lost over the past several years. The three Kings brought Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh - not Ipods, Laptops or even a lawn mower (oops...did I really say that?!?!?). Sure, Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh may not be that readily accessible but I think you get my point, again. Another thing that has been lost is good old COMMON SENSE!

This holiday season, beginning with Thanksgiving, think about what you are truly (TRULY) thankful for. I bet (along with a green lawn) your list will include God, family, friends, etc. and not many (hopefully none) material items.

TIP OF THE DAY...Nothing says, "Merry Christmas...Peace be with You" like a Lawn Doctor gift certificate!!!
