Thumbies,
The following are dangers we are now experiencing in our lawns:
* Brown (brown/yellowish) lawns are due to heat stress and/or scalping by mowers. Now, none of my Thumbies are experiencing this because they KNOW to water their lawns and NOT to scalp their grass when they mow, right.....right?
* Gray lawns could be due to insect infestation. The Sod webworm is chewing-up many lawns in the area. "Doc, how do I know I have the webworm"? You'll know when you walk thru your lawn (or while your mowing) and gray-to-white moths are flying around. The Sod Webworm has already done it's damage at this point. Chemical control is somewhat useless since trying to control flying moths is like Lindsay Lohan trying to stay out of the tabloids...not gonna happen! I will be offering an insect control service next year to combat these critters.
* Voles...just call me, I'll take care of them for you!
* And yes, let's not forget my nemisis the grub! If your lawn has grubs, you will see the damage NOW. If you have skunks in the area, you will see MASSIVE DAMAGE NOW! But, I know that my Thumbies ordered grub control and they have no damage, right...right?
TIP OF THE DAY...Continue to mow your grass high since it is still a tad bit hot out there!
