Thumbies,
This message is for all of my new Thumbies (you veterans...you already know this). Lawn Doctor is in the business of creating and maintaining beautiful lawns. Lawn Doctor is NOT in the business of spreading fertilizer and killing weeds. Although we do this...this is not our main priority. Are you confused yet??? Well, I'll get to the point. I've received a couple of phone calls from new clients asking why we are not servicing their lawns.
My answer, long story short, ..."the weather is not cooperating". These clients have been burnt (literally) in the past by lawn treatment companies who fertilize everyday...no matter what the weather. As all of you veterans know, that is not what I do. In fact, this is one of the ways I separate myself from the rest of the pack.
I explain to the clients that when it is raining, you will NOT see me servicing, except for a light drizzle. And, when the temp is about 85 degrees, chances are you will NOT see me servicing. Now, with temps above 85 degrees and no rain, I just can't service. Sure I CAN service but, ethically and morally, I just can't. It doesn't make any sense to me to spread dry fertilizer on dry grass...with no rain in sight. If this makes me behind on my scheduling (and you know how anal I am about my timing), then so be it.
TIP OF THE DAY...When the sun is up, your watering should already be done!
